So… with The Edublogger over a year old, we thought that it was about time to consider not only the individuals out there using blogs in their teaching, research and general educational contexts – but also the innovative, progressive and exciting institutions that are using blogs, and the people who are driving them forward.
So that’s what this blog is going to be about – using blogs in an educational organisational context.
Whether it’s as eporfolios, department websites, journaling, professional development or as the basis of an online learning system itself.
And sure, we’re going to probably be looking a fair bit at Edublogs Campus (our institutional blogging platform) but this is strictly not a blog about that… we’re hoping that it’s going to be useful to any institution using blogs – whether they host their own WordpPress MU blogs, run all their blogs off Blogger or ePals or (shudder) even Sharepoint.
So, if you like the sound of that, grab a subscription to our feed or use the form in the sidebar to subscribe by email.
We’re looking forward to helping blogging in schools, colleges, districts and universities take a giant leap forward.

Another blog by Edublogs and Sue Waters. James, hope you have lots of chocolate and Coca Cola to keep her running between all her blogs.
What great timing Sue! This new school year all the lower division teachers at my school will have a blog for their parents. Many already have class blogs, but the school is moving forward in developing those important teacher/parent relationships. This will be a great source of inspiration for those newbies, and I have already forwarded the link to the powers that be. Thanks!
This is a well positioned initiative to catch the growing wave of educational interest in student blogging. Best wishes, Sue.
Excellent venture Sue. All the best. Just subscribed in NetNewsWire. Look forward to each post.
Cheers
John
Brilliant idea, I’m looking forward to your pearls of wisdom Sue, and more of the fascinating comment trails your posts generate!
@Miss W., for some reason James never sends me any chocolate or Coco Cola. But he does look after me well. Yes it is challenging besides blogs I have quite a few WPMU sites now of my own also.
@acobb7, Thanks for passing on the blog to people in your school. You will notice a difference in approach on this blog compared to The Edublogger but I’m hoping people will enjoy both. I don’t believe that many have ever tackle the topic in terms of institution wide blogging so I’m excited to be sharing what I’m learning from all the work I do.
@Paul C, Thanks Paul. This blog has been in the plans for about 6 months now just time has been the challenge. Looking forward to writing here and hope you enjoy.
@John Larkin, Thanks John. You might also like to know that I’m currently updating Edublogs information for the next version of WordPress – please let me know if you want me to send it through to you.
@Leo Havemann, Thanks Leo. I’m hoping to generate the comments as on The Edublogger the comments are probably the best part but it may be more challenging on this blog.
ms. KUNAUH I REALLY LIKE YOUR WEBSITE ITS VERRY ORGANIZED AND REALLY GOOD.
Greetings: I know edublogs is just started, but can you direct me to any institutional websites using this technology, or actual samples. Thank you.
Walter Drake
@Walter, I’m not sure what you mean with edublogs is just started? Edublogs.org was set up in 2005 and Edublogs Campus a few years later. But maybe you mean edublogging?
I’m happy to show you examples of it being used by organisations. Can you tell me which age group and educational sector? i.e. did you want examples from K12, vocational education and training or University?
I think you have the schools covered with blogging, It’s the older folks that do not know how to set up a blog, much less how to spell it. Thank you for the insightful reading. It seems as the teachers and administrative staff get further away from the students, the more help they need with the technology side of things.
